How to make Hot Mulled Cider!

Winter is well underway but that doesn’t mean that you have to give up cider for the duration!  At this time of year there is nothing better than standing around a roaring fire with friends sharing a nice warming beverage, and there is no better warm beverage than Hot mulled cider!’

To make the perfect winter warmer, for adults only I must stress! Take the following:

  • 4 pack of Spreyton Bitter Cider (or Classic if you prefer, I like the hoppy goodness but not all do..)
  • 4 pack of Spreyton Apple Cider
  • 1l of Spreyton Fresh Apple Juice
  • 1 orange, quartered
  • 2 – 3 sticks of cinnamon
  • 2 – 3 Tablespoons of aromatic spices:
    • cloves
    • pimentos (Allspice)
    • Tasmanian Bush pepper berries (if you can get them)
    • Star Anise
    • etc.

Place all the ingredients into a large saucepan and bring to the boil, reduce the heat to a simmer and simmer for 10 – 15 minutes then enjoy!  (serves 12 – 15)

This winter warmer will have an ABV of around 4%, if you want a little more kick then add some Redlands Estates Apple Schnapps, if you want a little less then add more Apple Juice!

Mulled Cider is a traditional European Winter beverage but it is perfect for these chilly Tassie Winters and lets face it wouldn’t you rather stand around a bonfire with a drink in your hand that isn’t ice cold??

Until next time!

Cheers from the cidery
